Care & Cleaning

To ensure your home textiles stay looking their best for a long time, you’ll find helpful tips here on how to care for and clean your Q2 fabric.

Beauty that lasts

Our home textiles are designed to withstand the rigours of everyday life. Nevertheless, there are a few things worth bearing in mind – that way, you’ll be able to enjoy them for even longer.

Vacuuming
Please vacuum using only the upholstery nozzle and at reduced suction power. Many newer vacuum cleaners now have a special sofa setting. You should definitely avoid using a bare hose at high suction power.
Wet cleaning
We also recommend carrying out a gentle wet clean on a regular basis. Over the course of a year, fine household dust from the air, dirt from clothing and skin oils accumulate in the upholstery. This has a negative impact on the appearance, durability, hygiene and health of the upholstery.
Static electricity
When the humidity is low, the fibres in synthetic materials tend to build up static electricity. This can cause the fibres to stand on end, leading to the fabric becoming rough. You can prevent this by occasionally moisturising the fabric. To do this, simply wipe the sofa down with a clean, damp cloth.

With Q2, stains are no longer a problem

Life is colourful, noisy and sometimes wonderfully chaotic. Children colour outside the lines, the dog jumps onto the sofa with dirty paws, a glass of red wine gets knocked over during a cosy evening in front of the telly, or a piece of chocolate melts onto the upholstery. With Q2, you can stay completely calm in moments like these.

Q2 fabrics are the perfect choice for families, pet lovers and, above all, allergy sufferers who no longer want to compromise between health and aesthetics.

Removing stains

Act quickly: blot fresh stains immediately with clean water and a clean cloth (do not rub!). For stubborn stains, use a mild fabric cleaner.

Is the cover removable?

Simply remove it and wash it on a gentle cycle at 30°C. It will look as good as new afterwards.

Well-padded?

Most everyday stains can be easily dabbed away with a little warm water and neutral soap.

Stubborn cases?

With Q2 fabrics, you can even treat stubborn stains such as nail varnish, lipstick or ballpoint pen ink using acetone without damaging the colour or the fabric.

Washing

Our Q2 products are machine washable – a real advantage when it comes to premium textiles. Please note:

  • Delicate cycle at a maximum of 30°C
  • Mild detergent without fabric softener
  • Do not spin or spin only at a low speed
  • Air dry, do not tumble dry

Q2 Cleaning

Q2: How to look after your fabrics

Our Q2 quality seal guarantees the highest quality to customers worldwide. Rohleder Textiles have excellent care and cleaning properties – all without the use of chemical additives. In general, all stains (except those caused by solvent-based writing instruments) can be easily removed from Q2 fabrics. Try to remove stains immediately after they occur. To do this, use an absorbent cloth and dab the stain.

Removing solvent-based stains

Stains caused by solvent-based products such as nail varnish, lipstick, felt-tip pens, ballpoint pens or shoe polish can usually be effectively removed with acetone. It is important to proceed carefully and methodically to avoid damaging the fabric and prevent the dye from bleeding.

Step 1: Pinpoint the stain

To prevent the loosened dirt from spreading further, first carefully apply acetone around the edge of the stain. This ensures that the cleaning is confined to the affected area and effectively prevents the colour from bleeding.

Tip: It is best to wear gloves, as acetone can severely dry out the skin.

Step 2: Treat and remove the stain

Next, apply a few drops of acetone directly to the stain and carefully blot up the loosened dye with a clean, white, absorbent cloth or kitchen paper. Blot gently without rubbing to avoid damaging the fabric. For stubborn stains, it may help to leave the acetone to work for a short while before dabbing again. Work step by step until the stain becomes noticeably lighter.

Step 3: Repeat the process if necessary

After the first treatment, check carefully to see if any colour or dirt residue is still visible. With stubborn stains, it is normal for several passes to be required. Repeat the cleaning process until no colour changes or residue are visible. Take care to proceed gently and step by step so as not to put too much strain on the material. With each pass, the stain becomes lighter and the result more even, without any edges or unsightly patches forming.

Step 4: Remove any remaining residue

Apply a small amount of acetone to the area you have already cleaned to completely dissolve any remaining paint or dirt. Then remove this by dabbing gently with a clean, white cloth. Work carefully and without applying pressure to avoid damaging the material and to ensure an even cleaning result.

Step 5: Rinse thoroughly and leave to dry

Finally, rinse the treated area thoroughly with plenty of clean water to remove any remaining solvent residue. Ensure that no residue is left behind. Allow the surface to dry completely.
