Like all materials in daily use, upholstery fabrics also require regular care. Stains should not be allowed to become too intense so as not to make cleaning more difficult and to maximize the life of the fabric. Always follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and care instructions. Lighter covers should be cleaned more frequently, as staining is more visible. This should be taken into account at the time of purchase. Visible discoloration due to foreign dyes, e.g. from jeans, can also occur with light-coloured upholstery. Friction causes dye to be released, which is deposited on the upholstery fabric. In this case, it is a defect in the quality of the clothing fabric and not the upholstery fabric. CHECK THE COLOR FASTNESS: Select a concealed spot on your furniture for testing. Remove any dust, if present. Soak a white, soft cotton cloth with cleaning agent (the cloth should always be clean) and rub it over the upholstery fabric. Only after drying can you judge whether the upholstery fabric is colorfast. With Q2 and Charmelle fabrics from Rohleder, almost all common household stains can be removed with a solution of warm water and mild detergent. Stains that are not water-soluble can also be removed with a solvent such as acetone. Discoloration can also be removed with the help of diluted bleach.
