Our design service

Our design team develops new patterns, textures and colourways all year round. This allows us to continually expand our portfolio and offer an exceptional variety of designs available immediately.

For larger projects, we also create bespoke designs. Working closely with our customers, we develop tailor-made designs – from the initial concept through to production-ready stage, all carried out entirely in-house.

Creativity meets technology

Our creative diversity is no accident. It stems from the close interplay between design expertise and an exceptionally modern, highly diversified range of machinery.

Our designers do not merely develop patterns – they experiment with weaves, textures and yarns. New materials are tested, weaving techniques are refined and existing qualities are continuously optimised. The technical capabilities of our customised machinery open up creative possibilities that go far beyond standard solutions.

Bespoke yarn development

We deliberately avoid using off-the-shelf yarns. Instead, we rely on exclusive in-house developments created in close collaboration with our suppliers. We define precise specifications for twisting, fineness, texture and colour to meet our specific requirements.

Before a new yarn is approved for production, it undergoes a qualification phase lasting several months. In our laboratory, we conduct intensive testing for lightfastness, tear resistance, and optical and tactile properties. Only when a yarn passes these rigorous test cycles does it become part of our portfolio. In this way, we guarantee a material quality that is visually brilliant and technically robust.

Precision meets performance

In the world of sophisticated interiors, fabric is far more than just the surface of a piece of furniture. It is the tactile interface that determines comfort and quality. At Rohleder, we therefore see our role not merely as a manufacturer of fabric by the metre, but as a development centre for textile solutions that meet the highest market standards. In our design and development department in Konradsreuth, we have been combining traditional weaving craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology for decades.

Our aim is to create products that perform well both aesthetically and technically. For our partners in the international furniture industry, the textile publishing sector and the contract sector, this means: we supply upholstery fabrics that make processes more efficient, minimise complaints and win over end customers through quality. We invite you to delve deep into our processes and understand why an upholstery or furniture fabric from Rohleder represents the safest investment for your collections.

Q2: Upholstery fabrics that set the standard

We are particularly proud of our Q2 quality seal. It combines the best of both worlds. A furniture upholstery fabric that is easier to care for than almost any other, without the need for chemical finishing. These properties are inherent in the fabric itself.

Load capacity
Our fabrics achieve extremely high abrasion resistance, easily withstanding even the most demanding conditions in high-traffic commercial environments.
Lightfastness
A high-quality upholstery fabric must retain its brilliant appearance over time, even when exposed to intense sunlight in glass-walled atriums or on sun decks. By using special high-performance dyes, we achieve excellent results on the blue scale and effectively prevent fading.
Easy to clean
In the catering and hospitality sectors in particular, hygiene and ease of care are crucial from a business perspective. Q2 fabrics allow for efficient cleaning, usually using just soap and water. The fabrics are extremely stain-resistant and are also machine-washable. This ensures interiors remain looking well-maintained even with heavy use.

Our development process

1. Portfolio screening & briefing

Our existing portfolio, comprising hundreds of designs and colour schemes, often provides the ideal solution. For major clients and projects involving significant volumes, we also create exclusive new designs. In such cases, we analyse your mood board or tender specifications to ensure we can precisely realise your vision using our diverse range of yarns and weaving technologies.

2. Technical feasibility

Our experts will immediately assess how we can bring your vision to life. Thanks to our extremely versatile range of machinery and our extensive selection of yarns, we can produce virtually any design.

3. Prototyping & Sampling

Our weaving mill in Konradsreuth is extremely flexible. We produce hand samples and initial swatches so that you can not only feel, but above all see, what you will be selling later on. For bespoke designs, this process involves several stages: first, we create samples to define the design and texture. This is followed by specific rounds of consultation to finalise the colour scheme down to the last detail.

4. Readiness for series production

Once the fabric is perfect, we move on to production. We manufacture with the utmost efficiency, but always with an eye for detail.
